AI recording card

The AI recording card connects to your phone over Bluetooth, and recording, live transcription, and SI Minutes all happen in LATU. For specs and button instructions, see the AI Recording Card page.

Bind and connect

The recording card must be bound to your account before you can use it, and a card can be bound to only one account at a time. A card that isn't bound can't connect.

Bind the AI recording card

Step 1 of 7 · Open the Profile tab and tap “Device settings” under “Recording & organizing”. This is the only place to add a recording card.

The demo plays automatically. You can also tap the glowing spot on the phone, pick a step above, or use the left and right arrow keys.

  1. Turn on the recording card and keep it close to your phone.
  2. Go to “Profile → Recording & organizing → Device settings” and choose your recording card model.
  3. LATU automatically searches for nearby recording cards (it stops after about 5 seconds; if yours isn't found, tap “Search again”) and shows who each card belongs to: “Mine”, “Not bound”, or “Bound to someone else”.
  4. Tap “Connect” next to the card you want to use. The first time you connect, you'll be asked “Bind this recording card?”. Tap “Bind and connect”.
  5. After “Connecting over Bluetooth” and “Reading device details” finish, the device details page opens and the card is ready to use.
  • The first time you connect, follow the system prompt to allow LATU to use Bluetooth. On Android, you also need to allow “Nearby devices”.
  • A card that's “Bound to someone else” can't connect until the original account unbinds it.
  • After that, LATU automatically reconnects to the card you used last whenever you open it or it returns to the foreground.

Record with the card

  • Once the card is connected and bound, the icon on the home screen's record button changes to a recording card. Tap it, then tap “Start Recording”. The audio source shows “Recording card”.
  • You can also start recording by pressing the button on the recording card. If LATU is in the foreground, the recording screen opens automatically. If it's in the background, you'll get a “Recording card started recording” notification; tap it to return to LATU and pick up the recording.
  • You can also pause, resume, and stop with the button on the card. It works the same as the buttons on the screen.
  • When a recording card is connected, LATU records with the card automatically. To use the phone microphone, disconnect the card first.

Recover the full recording after a disconnection

If the recording card disconnects from your phone during a recording, the card keeps saving the recording on the card:

  • LATU A1 PRO: It reconnects automatically. When recording ends, you'll see “Recovering the audio recorded while the card was disconnected…”, and the full recording is uploaded once it's restored.
  • LATU A1 (iPhone): The full recording is restored automatically, and “Syncing N%” appears above the record button on the home screen.
  • When it can't be restored (for example, if LATU was closed at some point, or with the A1 on Android), the incomplete recording isn't uploaded. Instead, you'll see “This recording is incomplete. Sync the full recording from the card's File transfer”. Tap “Sync” to get the full recording from “File transfer”.

File transfer

On the device details page, open “File transfer” to bring recordings on the card into LATU:

  • There are two tabs: “Not uploaded” and “Uploaded”.
  • Tap “Download & upload” to download a recording from the card and then upload it to your account, where it's transcribed and organized as usual. The transfer continues even if you leave this page.
  • You can delete recordings on the card. A recording that hasn't been uploaded can't be recovered once deleted, so LATU warns you first.

Device settings

After connecting, the device details page shows the battery level and these settings:

LATU A1: Name, serial number, capacity, File transfer, low-power recording mode, Wi-Fi fast transfer (used for files larger than 100 KB, on by default), and firmware version.

LATU A1 PRO:

  • Name: Change the recording card's Bluetooth name.
  • Find my card: Tap “Vibrate” and the card vibrates for about 8 seconds.
  • Screen text: Set the text shown on the standby screen (up to 30 characters), its alignment, font size, and the screen timeout.
  • Smart noise reduction: Reduces low-frequency rumble, wind noise, and background noise on the subway, on planes and buses, near air conditioners, and in similar settings, for a more accurate transcript.
  • Serial number, capacity, File transfer, and firmware version.

Unbind

When you no longer use a card, tap “Unbind” at the bottom of the device details page. Once unbound, the card disconnects, and you'll need to search for it and connect again next time. It can also be bound to another account. Deleting your account unbinds it automatically.

To switch to the other model, go back to “Device settings” and choose it. The card that's currently connected will disconnect. You can't switch while the recording card is recording.
